AERA Call for Editors: Journal of Educational and Behavioral Statistics
Print

July 2013

The Management Committee of the Journal of Educational and Behavioral Statistics (JEBS) invites applications and nominations for the editorship of Volumes 40–42 (2015–2017). Cosponsored by the American Educational Research Association and the American Statistical Association, JEBS provides an outlet for papers that develop original statistical methods useful for the applied statistician working in educational or behavioral research.

The editor or editorial team is responsible for accepting and rejecting manuscripts on the basis of the quality of the scholarship presented and the suitability of the subject matter for JEBS, guiding manuscripts through the review process using a designated Web-based system, overseeing revisions, soliciting content as necessary, and planning issues.

The new editor(s) will assume responsibility for the 2015 volume year (Volume 40) and will begin to receive manuscripts in July 2014 for publication in 2015. The new editor(s) should expect to receive manuscripts through June 30, 2016.

Nominees should be recognized scholars with background and interests appropriate for the readership of JEBS. Nominees should possess managerial and organizational skills as well as publishing/editorial experience.

AERA owns and publishes JEBS, which counts both ASA and AERA members among its subscribers. In addition to a modest honorarium to the editor, AERA provides an annual discretionary grant to directly support editorial work on the journal.

The JEBS Management Committee encourages prompt submission of nominations so that candidates may be considered and contacted about their interest in applying. Nominees will be sent a letter of instruction on how to apply, and the application deadline will be in autumn of this year.

If you are interested in serving as the next JEBS editor(s), please indicate your interest, and you will be sent a letter outlining application requirements. If you wish to nominate an editor or editorial team, please send a letter of nomination and a curriculum vita for the candidate(s). Send all inquiries and nominations to John Neikirk, AERA Director of Publications, at  [email protected].
