global research connections
AERA is committed to expanding its connections to the global research community, and is actively involved in advancing the field of education research worldwide. AERA played a major role in the creation of the World Education Research Association and AERA Executive Director Felice J. Levine has held leadership positions in the organization since its launch in 2009. AERA’s International Relations Committee seeks to enhance the focus on international research within the association and encourage participation of education researchers worldwide in AERA activities and opportunities.

The World Education Research Association (WERA) is an association of national, regional, and international specialty research associations aimed at advancing education research as a scientific and scholarly field.

International Relations Committee

As part of its mission to enhance the focus on international research within the association and encourage participation of education researchers worldwide in AERA activities, the International Relations Committee is responsible for the administration of a travel grant program in support in particular of emerging scholars from developing countries who are giving papers at the Annual Meeting. The committee also holds 10 sessions and symposia at the Annual Meeting that are constituted based permanently on the AERA open call for submissions. With attendees from virtually every part of the world, the association’s Annual Meeting is a key gathering point for international scholars.
